Keep a record of how much weight you gain. Pregnant women are going to gain weight, but too much can be difficult to lose after the baby is born. On the other hand, not gaining the correct amount of weight can be dangerous for the baby's development. Knowing what your weight is from week to week can help you make sure that you are on track for a healthy pregnancy.

Before you are looking to get pregnant, it is a great idea to see a doctor so that you can ensure that your health is in good shape and to identify any issues that may cause you to have trouble getting pregnant. Use your doctor as a voice of reason before and during your pregnancy.

Before you begin trying to conceive a baby, visit your doctor and check to be sure your vaccinations are updated. In particular, you want to make sure that you have the rubella and varicella vaccines. Exposure to these two diseases could be detrimental to your pregnancy if you haven't already been protected.
